American performer Allison Brooks Janney was born on November 19, 1959. For the past 30 years her performance has received praise on stage and screen. Janney has been the recipient of several awards. These include an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award as well as other awards. The actress also won 7 Primetime Emmy Awards. She also received nominations for the two Tony Awards. Janney was born in Boston but was raised at Dayton (Ohio). She received a scholarship to pursue a degree in The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art following her graduation from Kenyon College. Janney began her TV debut in 1999, playing C. J. Cregg, a role she played on the NBC's political drama The West Wing (1999 to 2006) in which she was awarded four Primetime Emmy Awards. Janney was awarded an award called the Primetime Emmy Award for 2014 Outstanding Guest actress in the Drama Series in recognition of her performance as Margaret Scully on the Showtime show Masters of Sex. Janney received two Outstanding Supporting Actress Awards for Comedy Shows and was awarded six times by Primetime Emmy Awards.
